Solar Powered Camera Strap

solar_galus

Most photographers use a sturdy camera strap while clicking pictures and here’s an idea that wants to capitalize on it. This is done by making the strap solar-savvy! Meaning, adding thin solar films across the width of the strap, so as to harness solar energy when out on the field. Aptly christened the Solar Camera Strap, it’s a neat idea; when we can have solar panels on backpacks and what not, then why not on a camera strap!

Chicago Lightning Strike Captured With Canon 7D

Chicago lightning storm captured recently by Craig Shimala from his balcony. Using a Canon 7D and a 10-22mm wide angle lens, he was lucky enough to film lightning striking the three tallest buildings in Chicago at the same time.

Latest Video from LA Lakers Riots

I decided to shoot video simultaneously while doing my normal still photos in Downtown LA during the 2010 Lakers celebration/riots right after the game finished. The video camera was attached to the side and is a bit off, but you get the idea. I might try this out again for another event.

Hoverboard Sculpture – Back to the Future

The Hoverboard is a project made by Nils guadagnin, a young french artist.

It is a copy of the hoverboard from the movie Back to the Future II. Integrated into the board and the plinth is an electromagnetic system which levitates the board. A laser system stabilises the object in the air.
In the making of this work, this artist was thinking about different ways of presenting sculpture. In fact it’s a reflexion on the multiple possibilities of how to give a sculpture full spatial autonomy.

Beautiful piece of art. Love it!!!

Sneak Peek at House + Canon 5D Mark II

One of my favorite shows on Fox has an exciting episode coming up. The season finale for the TV series House was filmed entirely with the Canon 5D Mark II. It should be quite exciting to see how it turned out. You can get a sneak peek via Fox’s Youtube channel. They have uploaded a short teaser of the episode, not HD, but it’s a pretty great glimpse into what they were able to do:

Don’t forget to set your DVR!

The episode is set to air Monday, May 17th.

Michael Bay and Victoria’s Secret Video

As I had wrote earlier about the Michael Bay and Victoria’s Secret project behind the scenes we now have the final version of Michael Bay’s commercial to view.

His latest aired during the ‘Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show’ Dec. 1 on CBS, and featured everything we’ve come to know expect from Bay: models, heavy metal music, motorcycles and helicopters, guns and knives, explosions, a barren landscape intermixed with a lush mansion.

Although there are many limitations, I think this is a brilliant idea. This is well suited for our tech generation and just plain stunning. I am now ready to do an iPhone camera shoot, any takers?
